Parish Delegates serve as representatives of the parish within the broader life and governance of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of Canada. Elected by the Parish Assembly in accordance with the Diocesan Bylaws, they provide an important link between the local parish and the Diocese.
Parish Delegates represent the parish at the Diocesan Assembly, where clergy and lay representatives from the parishes of the Diocese gather to address matters concerning the spiritual, administrative, financial, educational, and pastoral life of the Armenian Church.
“For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ.”
Romans 12:4–5
Their responsibilities include participating in the deliberations of the Diocesan Assembly, considering matters presented before it, exercising their voting responsibilities, and contributing to decisions that affect the mission and future of the Diocese and its parishes.
Parish Delegates are called to serve with faithfulness, integrity, wisdom, and a spirit of Christian cooperation, always seeking the well-being of the Church. They are entrusted with representing the concerns and perspectives of their parish while remaining mindful of the unity and common mission of the entire Diocese.
Through their service, Parish Delegates help strengthen the relationship between the parish, the Diocese, and the wider Armenian Apostolic Church, contributing to the unity of our faithful and to the continuing mission of Christ’s Holy Church.
