Deacons & Altar servants

The ministry of the Deacons and Altar Servants is a sacred calling to serve God and His Church by assisting the priest in the celebration of the Holy Badarak (Divine Liturgy) and other liturgical services. Through their reverent service, prayerful participation, and disciplined conduct, they help preserve the beauty, order, and solemnity of the worship of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

“Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing.”

Psalm 100:2

Serving During the Divine Liturgy

During the Holy Badarak, Deacons and Altar Servants assist the priest in carrying out the sacred rites of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Every responsibility is performed with attentiveness, discipline, and deep reverence for the Holy Altar.

Procession and Proclamation

Deacons and Altar Servants carry the Holy Cross and processional candles, assist with the Gospel Book, and take part in the entrances and processions of the Divine Liturgy. Through these sacred actions, they help proclaim the Word of God and guide the congregation in worship.

Service at the Holy Altar

They prepare and present the bread and wine, serve the holy incense, wash the priest’s hands, and assist with the various liturgical duties entrusted to them. Each responsibility is carried out carefully and respectfully in accordance with the traditions of the Armenian Church.

Reverence and Commitment

Those serving on the Holy Altar remain on duty from the beginning of the Divine Liturgy until all responsibilities have been completed. Their prayerful participation, disciplined conduct, and attentive presence offer an example of reverence and devotion to the entire congregation.

We are deeply grateful to our Deacons and Altar Servants for their faithful dedication and selfless service. Their ministry is an essential part of the liturgical life of our parish.
